Latest developments! Temporary rescheduling of the event this year due to unforseen circumstances! Please bear with me as I try to get a venue that will work for everyone. I realize that it's late, so get ready for Brewingman! Hopefully by the middle of next week I'll have things sorted out, and we'll either be setting up in Champoeg State Park, or in Willamette Mission State Park ☺
Welcome to BrewingMan! The only all homebrew event in the world! Dedicated to those people who like to brew beer, sake, cider, and mead at home without constraints. What exactly is extreme or radical brewing you ask? Good question, but in my opinion, any beverage that uses nontraditional ingredients or is made in a nontraditional way qualifies as an extreme or radical beverage! Examples include, but aren't limited to Pumpkin Pumpernickel Porter, or Lemonade Hefeweissen, or Bourbon Barrel aged Cider, or Cinnamon Apple Pie Cyser. One of my favorite extreme beers is Chocolate Peanutbutter Porter -- yummy!
BrewingMan is held annually around the Fall equinox. This year, we'll be in a close by state park, near Portland, Oregon. On or about the Fall Equinox, in the shadows of hops and grains, BrewingMan is a celebration of homebrewing and free expression. This year's celebration will be on September or October, for those who want to setup early (weather permitting). Signs will be posted showing you where to go to camp out.
Competitions held during the event will determine who the BrewingMan of the year will be. Last year, the Pentathelon was very close, the difference being a half a point! For 2009 we will be having another three games of skill, and the same two of brewing art. Games will include CORNHOLE, BEER PONG, and BEER BUNGEE. Afterwards, peoples' choice awards will go to the one who brings the most radical beer, and a final vote for the most extreme beer brewed. Whoever gets the most points wins, and becomes the BrewingMan of 2009!
Check-in is at 2:30, with the events to follow.
After receiving the coveted BrewingMan homunculus, the prior BrewingMan homunculus must be sacrificed on the funiary pyre raising the smoke in reverence to Ninkasi. Frolics will follow and anyone interested can go up to the Fearless Brewery at this time.
